Learning Walk Checklist

This free Learning Walk Checklist (Ofsted 2025) helps schools structure their learning walks and capture meaningful evidence aligned with the Ofsted inspection framework (November 2025). It focuses on key areas such as curriculum and instruction, assessment and challenge, inclusion, engagement and behaviour, and classroom environment.

Each section provides clear prompts for what to look for – making it easier for leaders to conduct purposeful learning walks that inform school self-evaluation and improvement planning. This short-form approach focuses on the qualitative feedback you can capture as you undertake the learning walk.

We have an extended version of this form available as a Learning Walk Framework Checklist and both can be used in tandem to ensure light-touch and more in-depth quality assurance of your educational provision. Combine any of these with our frameworks for Lesson Drop Ins and Book/Work Scutiny to gather a clear impression of strengths and weaknesses within a subject, department or school. Each form can be adapted for your own needs and all of these are available for free.

It can be used as a paper-based checklist or integrated into our Flourish Quality Assurance software, where all learning walk records can be stored, analysed, and tracked over time with powerful reporting features such as summary tables and trend analysis.
