This free Learning Walk Framework is designed to help schools carry out focused, consistent learning walks that align with the Ofsted inspection framework (November 2025). It provides a clear, practical structure for evaluating the quality of teaching, learning, and classroom practice across key areas, including curriculum and instruction, assessment and challenge, inclusion, engagement and behaviour, outcomes and environment, and safeguarding and wellbeing. It expands on our Learning Walk Checklist to offer further prompts and guidance on what you might look for within each area. Each focus area includes clear prompts to support professional dialogue and ensure that learning walks remain purposeful, evidence-based, and aligned with current inspection priorities.
Flourish Learning Walk Framework Checklist Usage
Use this framework to carry out short, low-stakes learning walks that build an accurate picture of classroom practice across a school or trust. Schools can use it as a standalone paper-based tool or integrate it directly into the Flourish Quality Assurance software, where learning walk records can be stored securely, analysed at school, department, or individual level, and explored through powerful reporting tools such as heat maps and trend analysis.
