This free Work Scrutiny Checklist supports schools in reviewing pupils' books and learning evidence in line with the Ofsted inspection framework (November 2025). The checklist covers presentation and organisation, curriculum coverage, progression over time, feedback and pupil response, inclusion and differentiation, challenge, literacy, and pupil effort. Each section is designed to give leaders a consistent, structured way of recording whether key indicators of quality teaching and learning are present across classes and subjects.
